My Highest Calling
“But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” Philippians 3: 7-8

My highest calling
“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the father through him.” Colossians 3:17
It is so good to be back from maternity leave, I have really missed having conversations with adults! Back in February we welcomed our second daughter Palmer, she is such a sweet baby and we praise God for her life and entrusting us with her.
I absolutely love being a mom, not that it’s not the hardest thing I have ever done but I love getting to witness Laine and Palmer grow and learn. Going from 1-2 children has been so much easier this time around just having more confidence as Mom and learning to trust God with their lives. I have also learned to enjoy everyday moments although extremely mundane because I know that God is always near to me even in the mundane.
As much as I delight in being a mom, I am so thankful my hope is not in motherhood. My hope is in Christ. Motherhood is not my highest calling, it is a very high calling but my highest calling is a follower of Christ. Finding our identity in Christ isn’t just a one time thing we figure out but something we need to be intentional about daily, there are so many things that surround us that we could so easily place our identity in from sports, work, financial stability and even our kids. Although all of these things are good things they are temporary and when we place our identity in anything worldly it leaves us feeling empty. Wherever you are today I pray that you can also put your hope in Christ and seek him in all that you do.
