Hope

A few weeks ago I was privileged with the opportunity to speak with the CSU football team on the topic of Hope. The timing couldn’t have been more fitting for me because before prepping for the chapel, I learned that I had hit the redzone funding status in ministry for the first time in my 11 years with FCA. I was doubting that God was going to provide for me and my family and I was doubting my calling because of the lack of current provision. As I began to study the scriptures about Hope I saw four key things that encouraged my soul as well as giving me some nuggets to share with the team. Those 4 principles of hope were:
1. Hope produces Self-Control because when my eyes are set on the hope of Christ and the rewards in heaven that are laid up for me, I can say no to the temporary pleasures of this world. 2. Hope produces obedience to God, this is crucial because when I obey God it is literally the best thing that I can also do for myself and it honors Him at the same time.
3. Hope produces love, I mean who doesn’t want to be loved! When I have hope in Christ it enables me to take the eyes off myself and place them onto others. When we all begin doing this, everyone gets taken care of.
4. Hope gives me the ability to have Joy in all circumstances. I think this is the principle that most affected me as I studied because I had lost my Joy because of the circumstances. I was only focusing on things this side of eternity. What happened after that is God lifted my eyes so that I could see His face and remember what Christ did on the cross for me, and that because of that, I am a child of God and a place where there are no more tears, no more pain, and where perfect fellowship will be had awaits me on the other side. My hope as you read this is that you too will have hope, and through that hope you will see these 4 things stirred up in your lives as well.
